Angela Pells

Angela Pells is an established artist based in Lumby, British Columbia, working in watercolour and mixed media. Her contemporary landscape paintings explore atmosphere, restraint, and the emotional resonance of place. Melding specific places with memory, she distills landscape into gesture and colour, allowing water, pigment, and absence to shape the final image.

Earlier works examined the built environment and the inertia of construction and urban planning. That interest in human environments as a reflection of collective momentum continues in her current practice, now expressed through quieter compositions and open horizons in natural spaces.

Pells has returned to her professional art practise after 15 years of managing creative programming and marketing campaigns for non-profit arts organizations across Western Canada. She holds a BFA (honours) in Visual Art and a BA (honours) in Art History from the University of Calgary.

Emily Fraser

Emily Fraser’s work with fibre is deeply painterly, incorporating reclaimed sari silk, thrifted ties, scarves, yarn, painted silk, roving, and her own felted pieces. She often begins with an idea, allowing the materials themselves to inspire and inform the direction as each piece evolves.

Originally rooted in photography, Emily continues to draw from the lines, light, and textures of landscapes, which remain central to her creative practice across mediums. Beach and forest walks, along with Okanagan hikes, keep her physically connected to the environments she seeks to recreate in her work.

She continually expands her practice through courses in printmaking, abstract and acrylic painting, mixed media, glasswork, and ceramics. Emily also teaches her process and student classes at the Vernon Community Arts Centre, a space she deeply values. She feels fortunate to live, create, and be inspired in the Okanagan and beyond.

Linda K Sellers

Linda has been a watercolourist for over 25 years, enjoying the variety of creativity and flow that the watercolour medium offers.
Her paintings are admired for their vivid colours and diverse techniques. At times, she introduces other mediums such as ink or acrylic to enhance her work. Her art subjects are varied, but she particularly draws inspiration from the beauty of nature.

Linda continues to grow in her art by regularly receiving instruction from several artists in Ontario, British Columbia, and worldwide, online. She and her husband have made Vernon their home since 2009, where she occasionally teaches watercolour classes at the Vernon Community Arts Centre.

Artist Statement

From a delightful spark of inspiration, to the finished art, I love the creative process of painting. It makes me imagine, problem solve, explore, research, and try new things. It gives me great pleasure watching the artwork evolve into a brilliant expression of me.
