Laurel has considered herself an artist since early childhood. She was always drawing, painting and doing anything creative. Naturally she couldn’t fathom a career in anything that wasn’t ‘artistic’. With that in mind Laurel graduated from college with a diploma in Fine Arts and second diploma in Graphic Design and Communications. For 20 years Laurel pursued a graphic design career, working in a number of top studios in Vancouver, BC. Life shifted though, and in the winter of 2008 she and her family moved to the North Okanagan. Once settled Laurel realized she needed to return to her fine arts roots. Although Laurel considers herself a painter and jewellery maker, by far her favourite creative outlet is wheel thrown pottery. Working with her hands making pottery feels like a home for her soul. She focuses most of her energy on creating with clay and feels blessed to bring this medium to others while making and teaching pottery.
